To which line of Pythias do you relate?

First, I have to thank everyone for their support. It's so encouraging to have so many cheerleaders. You guys rock! But I wanted to share how my story connects with reality.

I'm sure many of us have taken the color code personality test. I'm a white (peace maker!) with lots of that party yellow. In my story, as explained earlier, the characters are emotional, logical, or charitable. And these traits are hereditary--handed down from Aristotle's daughter, Pythias. Anyway, when my brother read my manuscript, he was like, "Man! You're hard on those Logos! And they're the coolest ones!" But a friend said, "I'm totally Ethos." And me? Yeah, I'm pretty much Pathos--ruled by emotion.

Or we might believe we're a mixture. It's true. We could be service-minded, but still overly dramatic. But my objection would be how into service are we really?? Remember, Olivia is obsessed with causes. How many of us could claim that same selfless obsession?

In my story, the Ethos line is nearly extinct. How do we view it then? It really becomes precious.

  1. very interesting. since our world is leaning more in that direction, more self-centered and less charitable, it will be very interesting to see how your characters react to this dilemma.

but as in all things, moderation is important...if one gives all of oneself to charity, there's no time for anything else. (At least that's what I tell myself...)

  2. I'm definitely a pathos. I WISH I could claim ethos status!!! And I would agree that they seem to be a rare type! (I do like giving blood-- does that make me cool?)

  3. I can't be 100% but I imagine I would be more Logos/Ethos---Pathos has to take a back seat-but it is still along for the ride.

  4. oh, I'm definitely a pathos. hands down! But a lot of times, I find it's my pathos, my sympathy blah blah blah, that leads me to do good works, if that makes sense.
